Rugby Events in Edinburgh during 2009

The New Year feel good factor can fizzle out, but rugby fans can always look forward to the Six Nations tournament. This season Scotland have three home games.

First up on Sunday 8th February 2009 is Wales, potential champions, then at the end of the month on the 28th February 2009 we welcome the always-improving Italy.

Finally, on Saturday 14th March 2009, just a few days short of St. Patrick’s day we host dark horses Ireland.

Tickets may be in short supply, but try the Scottish Rugby Union (SRU). In addition, the young Edinburgh Gunners team is moving up the Magners League and they have a series of attractive home fixtures from January to May. Games are normally played on a Friday night and tickets are fairly easy to obtain.

Finally, the rugby lover is over-indulged this year as the Heineken Cup final returns to Murrayfield on 23 May 2009, when two of Europe’s best club sides will fight it out. This will only be the second time Edinburgh has hosted the final and it promises to be a fantastic occasion.
